The National holiday, Veteran's Day did not go unnoticed by the WCS student body. Directed by Miss Marissa Shaw, elementary students and the middle school and high school choir participated in the school's annual Veteran's Day Program, honoring all who have served our country faithfully. It was a moving and heartwarming experience for those present. Thank you for your sacrifice, veterans!
Veterans Day History November 11 in the US is a nationally recognized holiday to honor veterans. In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower declared this date to be a holiday. The 11th of November was chosen in memory of the first world war, where armistice was declared the 11th day of the 11th Monday in 1919. However, this has not always been the date for Veteran's Day. In 1971, Congress passed the Uniform Holidays Bill changing it to the fourth Monday in October. This lasted four years before President Ford restored Veteran's Day to its original date, because of the historical significance. History.com Editors. (2009, October 14). Veterans Day Facts.
